As Executive Director of Austin Classical Guitar, Matthew has raised millions of dollars for arts and education programming. He is a lead author of GuitarCurriculum.com, a paradigm-shifting educational resource used in hundreds of schools across the world, as well as LetsPlayGuitar.org, a first-of-its-kind braille lifelong learning resource for the blind and visually impaired community. ACG has created a range of community-based social service programming, including ground-breaking daily for-credit classes for incarcerated youth in the Texas Juvenile Justice System.

In 2001 Matthew opened a premiere concert and creative learning center in central Austin called The Rosette that presents over 200 events per year for the Austin community ranging from concerts to theater, film, fundraisers, workshops, and classes.

Matthew was asked to help establish the Minor in Arts Management and Administration for the University of Texas at Austin in 2015, and maintains a busy public speaking schedule. Author of ten books, he is a sought-after mentor and consultant for community-based efforts, and has helped many young leaders to develop themselves and their organizations across the United States.

Matthew has a deep belief in the power of kindness, and the critical importance of invisible and hard-to-measure things, which he has written extensively about in his 2002 book Form & Essence: A Guide to Practicing Truth, and his newest book, The Spirit Economy: On Generosity, Purpose, and Service.
